Guilty of Innocence
About the Book
Gail Lanham, a noted psychiatrist who often defies convention, is confronted with a quandary which had baffled many of her peers: a thirteen-year-old girl who has isolated herself from the outside world after several years of extremely perplexing and often shameful behavior. Gail soon determines the cause of the girl’s problems and they embark on an unusual - and unknowingly deadly - prescription for treatment.
Kayli Chambers, had cooperated with authorities by lying. She was coerced into accusing a man, David Hill, of sexual crimes against her. The government had bullied her into concocting the story by threatening child abuse charges against her mother. Gail encouraged the girl to atone for her part in his unjustified incarceration by working with Hill’s lawyer to vindicate the innocent man.
Little did Gail know, the government prosecutors and agents have their own vested interest in keeping Hill’s case from coming under scrutiny. As Gail and the girl uncover more witnesses willing to come forward, the agents involved try to silence them all. When Hill is freed, the corrupt prosecution team escalates their efforts to cover their tracks, ultimately going after Gail, Kayli and the newly-freed Hill in order to keep a lid on their own crimes. By now, the agents have already proven they will stop at nothing, including killing children.
The trio flee to the Washington National Forest with Hill’s daughters in a desperate attempt to hide, but are hunted down by the agents and forced into a deadly confrontation. This harrowing ordeal leaves many lives changed forever and creates many more innocent victims.
